ROTC Contracting Question

DS is a soph at a senior military college-U of North Georgia. He is in National Guard and currently has 43 credits and a 3.9 gpa. He wants to contract and be a part of the SMP program. My questions are when would he find out about contracting with ROTC? What is the usual process? Is this something he initiates or is it something he waits to be approached about. What is the time frame? The last thing I do recall DS said was that he needed to take a PT test and submit the score or something like that. DS is in good shape and just completed UNG's NCOA (Non Commissioned Officer Academy) and he scored 270 on the PT test they gave but he said he did not think that test score counted. DS may already know the answer to all of these questions but as "good old dad" I'm just trying to learn the process on my own. Thanks in advance.

Sent you a PM.

I wanted to learn from this post too.

Sorry. I basically said that I am not an authority, but his DS probably needs to talk to the ROO (and maybe PMS or head of Cadet Admissions) at UNG. He is already a sophomore at UNG, but I do not know if he is in the Corps of Cadets already, or not. I also said there is evidently a UNG "parents organization," many of whom are on this forum (I believe), and that he could check with them.

:thumb: LOL, ok. Thanks for posting that answer! Both my DS and CoachBart's DS are cadets at UNG. Like CoachBart's DS, mine is starting the contracting paperwork now too -- I think we're both just trying to understand the process so we can "be there" for our cadets should they express frustration. Thanks again!

Sent you a PM, too.

If he was at my school we would have contracted him at the beginning of the sophomore year if he was qualified. Needs to talk to cadre, although I'm guessing he knows why he's not contracted yet.
