2nd board results

so if the status is still reading "Boarded" and never changed to "status unknown", does that mean most likely it won't be this board? It seems like everyone who has been awarded, had a "status unknown" yesterday.

It doesn't necessarily mean anything. Everyone (including you) needs to stop trying to read the lea leaves! Truly, it's a waste of time. There isn't even any tea.

Luvmycountry,
My DS's status did not change yesterday from Boarded to Unknown and he was awarded the scholarship this morning. Once again it seems like there are different experiences with the process.

True dat, Luvmycountry. This is our first experience with this "thrill ride" that is AROTC boards, but if we have learned one thing, it is that you can't predict squat.

All applicants can do is put their best efforts forward, trust in themselves and the process, and try not to worry too much (much easier said than done).

So my DS just forwarded me an email he just received from the ROO of his #2 school (would be #1 but he went safe and picked an IS school as #1). It is so different from anything he has received in the past. Basically asking him how he is doing and making sure he hasn't gotten a case of Senioritis. Then saying how they look forward to seeing him there in August.

BUT still no update to his portal.

Is this normal? Do most of you see these types of emails from ROOs?

I guess at this point I am grasping at straws hoping to see good news!

I don't know if it has anything to do with this board or not, but it definitely sounds like they want him, and I think that is a good thing. In the off chance that no national happens, it could bode well for a campus-based opportunity there.

There is no way to know for certain but it is probably good news. Obviously, the ROO didn't reveal anything, as he shouldn't, but I would anticipate you'll see an update soon. Of course, my opinion and $5 can get you a venti latte at Starbucks.

Wow, your Starbucks has discount prices...

Well I certainly hope you are all right. The kid finally broke down and gave me his password so I can check his portal while he is at school. He got tired of the constant texts from me to see if he has heard anything.

Writing from Kabul in Afghanistan on a short job trip. Retired Officer, Ranger, JSOC, etc and hit the site and my boy says boarded. Thoughts on his chances.

3.6 of 4 GPA
5 AP Courses (all A's)
Goes to an Episcopal Boarding School (very active)
4x Starter in Lacrosse (Captain this year of team). (Offer D1 Lax Scholarship)
1970 on SAT (not Super Scored)
Scored 780 and 790 on Bio and German SAT Suppliments
High Honnors each trimester since Middle of Sophmore Year
AJGA Golfer +1 Handicap
On his PT Test he did: 56 situps, 49 Pushups, 6:15 mile
Has been accepted so far to Baylor, Univ of Kentucky, James Madision, UGA, College of Charleston, Fordham and we are waiting on BU, Wake, UGA

He listed Bio as his major as well as Pre-Med and in his essay said he wanted to be a military doctor. Wonder if the threat of deferment hurt him.

Anyway congrats to all who made it. I run a company that does SOF, Cyber, IT Infrastructure as well as some unique things and enjoyed ROTC and am with the Military every day for work. Have over 800 of my guys on job sites. Great life and there will be lots of changes in the coming years.

Any insight on my question would be great. RLTW (Rangers Lead the Way).

I have (2) kids in Army ROTC and I think his stats look excellent. He'll definitely want to work on the sit-ups and push-ups but looks solid overall but of course, I don't get a say in who gets picked. Good luck to your son and thank you for your service!! :thumb:

So I would have to assume at this point they are done updating the portal if the official email has gone out.

Congrats to all who made this board and to all of us still waiting good luck on #3.

Venti is the large. And I hate the fact I have to use some Italian word instead of using English and simply saying "Large". OTOH, it is a latte, and I'll do about anything for a latte.

Do not make assumptions. DO not read tea leaves. Do not make assumptions. Give it a few days.

I hate to say it, but if this works like the first board, then you are probably right. CC only sent one "blast" email out the first go round. But I could be wrong. They have done things a little differently each time, it seems. I will further caveat my statement by saying I have no clue how this process really works...we were flabbergasted after the first board. Kinnem (previous post) is probably the most "spot-on."

Best of luck to your DS in #3 if he doesn't hear this round.

Just received an "official" call from the PMS at my DS's first choice, and he told me he received a 4 year scholarship. Hooa!:thumb::thumb:

My DS also received a WINNER email today. Such good news!!!!!! Hopefully it's a 4 year scholarship but beggars can't be choosers. Anyone know how they select 4 over 3???

I think a lot just depends on availability and cost. Each battalion has a certain number of 4 and 3 years, so it depends how many they gave out last board or were allocated with for this year. Congrats to your son!
