I'm looking into all of my options in case the academies don't work out, and I really like University of Texas at Arlington. They have my major of choice, an affordable tuition, and Rangers Ballpark is only 10 minutes away \m/ I want to be a Marine officer, but they only offer ROTC. Plus, their cross-town affiliates are at least three hours away. Can I do ROTC here and still commission as a Marine officer?

To commission as a Marine officer, you need to do Naval ROTC Marine Option. If you do AROTC you're going to commission in the Army or one of its reserves. You didn't mention your desired major, but I would expect you could find it at another college in Texas that has NROTC. What about UT Austin?

Of course there is nothing wrong with commissioning as an Army officer either.

I want to major in aerospace engineering. Could I do Marines OCS during the summer between semesters and be an officer when I graduate?

That is called PLC (Platoon Leaders Course) and you'd go two summers for 'Charm school' :)

VMI82 is correct. The program you are referring to is PLC. You could also do OCS the summer (12 weeks) prior to senior year or after you graduate. However, you won't be doing these programs and doing some other ROTC program. Legal contracts and whatnot.

UT Austin does have an Aerospace Engineering major. There are also plenty of other schools that host NROTC units and have that major. Have you really researched them all? Or are you just dead set on UT Arlington?

In any case, see the link USMCGrunt provided and review all your commissioning options. I'm assuming you're a high school junior. If you're a senior then it's probably a bit late in the game to be having the discussion of which school to attend, although perhaps not too late.
