Just a question.
1) How many people applied (or tend to apply) on the first day the SLE application opened (January 15)?

2) I applied on the second day (January 16). Would this kill my chances of being admitted into SLE?

SLE

It doesn't matter how many applied the first day. It is not a first come, first serve process.

According to WP's Facebook, 1300 applications were sent, but only 859 applied for SLE in the first 24 hours.

The application deadline is 11 APR. Applying the first day is no different than applying the last day, other than there are rolling admissions -- 10 FEB, March, April (I saw the actual dates somewhere, maybe FB, can't remember). Be patient....

Thank you for the reassurance!

First or second day doesn't matter, but there should be a difference between applying the first day to applying last day.

Suppose West Point will offer 300 SLE acceptance by 10 Feb. Say 1000 applied, than remaining 700 will be either denied or deferred. Say 1000 more applied for the next round. Instead of 1000 competing for 300 slots, it will be 1000 + deferred.

I believe SLE has composition goal based on difference demographic and geographical locations. So if SLE goal is to have 10 kids from Alaska and if by the second round of acceptance, they accepted 10 kids from Alaska. So if you are from Alaska and applied late, no chance of getting in.

Yes, I should have worded that differently, you're right. You do have a better chance of getting accepted if you apply early rather than at the last minute, but stressing out about applying on day 2 is silly. Admissions sends out acceptances on 3 dates, so if you don't apply until 11 FEB (after the 1st date), you still have two more chances. Considering SLE acceptance is very competitive and based on things we may not be aware of, patience and working on what you can control are really the key to keeping your sanity.
