I was told by my BGO today, a Captain, that he checked my file and it said "Fully Qualified".

I am a college reapplicant. Unfortunately I did not receive a congressional nomination this year, but I do have a presidential and applied for the VP as well. Anyone who has seen previous posts before from me may know some stats, but I have an 800R SAT and a 690 M, 3.85 college GPA in technical courses (ranked 54th in my class) and I played college football last semester.

Though I am fully qualified, are my chances seriously slim since I only have a presidential (realistically) and a VP (unrealistically) to rely on? are all the presidential nomination appointments/slots given out already or are they not slotted until I-Day?

I was under the impression BGOs weren't supposed to disclose that information, but I guess it's apparent that a few do it under the table.

Having at least one nomination is great, and if they want you, they'll take you.

Stay confident! You have a nomination, which is more than I can say for myself pending a VP, but I'm not putting any money on it. Remember that it's all out of your control as of right now. Focus on keeping your grades up and staying in shape for now. :thumb:

Out of curiosity why didn't you apply for a ROTC nom since you in college? Are you not in ROTC?

Presidential noms are given out just like MOCs. It is a unique field, and only those with parents that qualify can get one of the 100. It is not like VP. IOWS, you will know before I Day since it is not like the VP. Our friend went to USNA in 08, and they only had a Pres. They were appointed in March with the mass mailing.

One nom is all it takes.

They do slot people before I-Day -- they have to. If someone slotted to a particular source doesn't show up, that slot then goes vacant. If it's an MOC, he/she will have an extra slot next year.

Once the 100 Pres slots are gone, the remaining nominees go in to a national pool. So there is a "second chance."

My DD received a call from her BGO and he said he felt her chances of receiving an appointment were high but he couldn't go in to details why. I thought this was interesting but I took it as a positive. Anyone else have this type of experience

@Ratadwag Yes, But don't read too much in. We received the same type of feedback from my DS's BGO last year and he did not get an appointment. It was extremely frustrating and depressing when he received the TWE. I will keep my fingers crossed, but don't get too high, don't get too low. You just have to wait and see.

Those who fall into the "national pool" category, 75% of those must come from qualified alternates (i.e. those who did not win the slate) from MOCs. In other words, only 25% can come from those who were not listed on any MOC slate. Hence, why USNA pushes candidates to apply to ALL MOCs for which they are eligible.
