I have been reading some of these posts and have noted that it can take a long time to do the entire DoDMERB process. I got my packet from DoDMERB about 2-3 weeks ago and I finished all three exams within a few days since all the facilities I was assigned to were luckily in my hometown.
So I logged onto my account on dodmet and checked my application status. So far it shows that my Optometry exam was received. Still waiting on the medical and audiology exam to be put in the system. I understand that the time frame they may give for receiving documents can be very broad and may take some time due to case by case scenarios. My exams were really fast and I didn't have any immediate issues, besides the fact that I had noted of my childhood asthma. HOWEVER, I took the liberty of taking a spirometry exam days before my actual medical exam. They monitor your breathing and do some simple tests on you and the results showed that I have regular breathing patterns and do not have asthma anymore. I brought the results to my exam and my doctor said that she would scan a copy and attach it to my packet. She also said that there's no guarantee that it would waive the issue since the Navy is the one that has to request exam results like that. She sent it nonetheless in the hope that it speeds up the process if they do decide to DQ me for that.
I know this may sound like dumb questions, but please hang on with me since I still have trouble wrapping my mind around the process. If for some reason I am issued to get a waiver of some sort, how would I know that I need one? Would they email me, mail me a letter, or perhaps post it on the dodmets account? Or a combination of the options? What is the DoD's stance on sending exams like a spirometry exam with the packet PRIOR to seeing if a waiver is needed or not? Do you think that they will accept the spirometry exam? What is the typical timeframe for the notification of the waiver? How long do I have to return the waiver to them?
Thanks in advance!
