Hello all,

For those of you who were ever offered NMMI prep school, would you please share your stats with us? I just want to compare myself to you. Specifically, your SAT math and reading, HS GPA, and your 4th year HS math course. I'll take a PM if you prefer. Be free to make any other points you wish.

Thanks, in advance, and cheers for your success!

NMMI

Well, I am currently attending NMMI right now as a sponsored USMMA prep. I don't believe I was the academies first choice at a prep slot so I got lucky. However these are my stats

590 verbal
690 math

I took AP Calc my junior year and AP Stats senior year.

Unweighted GPA was a 3.39 on a 4.0 scale.

I made sure my academic adviser from USMMA knew i was interested in a prep school slot. I showed motivation and made it clear to him I would not turn it down if I was given the opportunity. Now I'm here and it has made me into a 4.0 student and a stronger candidate than ever! I'm confident that with or without the sponsorship, I would have received an appointment. NMMI is a great stepping stone to the academy and I highly recommend it if you don't get your appointment this year. Look into their self-prep program!

dear abouchot,

Glad to hear you had such a positive experience at NMMI. are these sat scores ur most recent or were they ur high school scores?

:D

These are actually my most recent scores! We had to take them again here at NMMI

abouchot,

If you don't mind me asking, what were your sat scores from high school? How much did you improve and how did NMMI help to improve those scores?

If I'm fully qualified on all fronts with the academy but I do not get an appointment- do I still have a chance to go to the prep school?

No. You have to be academically unqualified which would contradict your premise... except perhaps for recruited athletes, and even then I'm not certain.

hmmm everyone here seems to have an academic deficiency they had to work on. In my case it was probably cause my gpa was too low and my test scores weren't outstanding. I think you do have a chance as long as you let them know you are interested.

abouchot,

If you don't mind me asking, what were your sat scores from high school? How much did you improve and how did NMMI help to improve those scores?

My sat scores from high school were 570 in reading, 600 in math, and 490 in writing.

I SUCK at taking that test. NMMI didn't really help at all in improving the scores. If your a USMMA prep you just have to take the ACT and the SAT while you're here. They do not even look for improvement. I wouldn't recommend bombing it though haha. Those tests do not reflect how well you will do in college. As long as you have a good work ethic you can get a 4.0!
