With the start of second semester, I have started my Rugby season. My concern is the chance of receiving a devastating injury that would cancel my appointment. I have my appointment for Air Force, and I'm on the national waiting list for both Navy and Army. I love playing rugby but the risk of injury is fairly high (several kids got injured in our team scrimmage this past weekend, and one tore his MCL). While I like playing the sport, my appointment to any one of the academies comes first.
One of my teammates on the team has received his appointment to the Merchant Marine Academy and is fairly certain that he will quit rugby. He told me that one of the higher ups at the USMMA discouraged him from playing.
So my question is should I play despite the chance of injury, or should I quit? I'm pretty nervous about this so please advice.
