D3-I noticed someone from D6 received an appointment. DS is in mailbox stalker mode. Two questions, one has anyone from D3 received an appointment? He has Congressional Nom but we do not think the noms were ranked. Does every MOC receive an appointment? We are in an under-represented area. We do not think our MOC nominated very many. DS attended NASS and package is strong but SATs were average. Any insights greatly appreciated...

All MOC's can have 5 Charges (students) at each Service Academy at any time. So, your MOC probably has 5 at USNA right now. If 2 are graduating this year he would have 2 slots available to fill. If 2 are graduating and 1 other dropped out he has 3. Most MOC's will have one opening this year, but it certainly can vary.

Work on your plan B and plan C and check the mailbox. The wait is tough. Our DS and family are all waiting. Best To you.

Correct that each MOC has 5 slots but that does not mean that all 5 slots are filled especially if the district is not a competitive district.
REP Rogers can put 10 candidates on his slate, but if no one is qualified, then no one will get an appointment off his slate.
If AL03 is not very competitive for USNA and you are fully qualified with a nom from that district, then you have an advantage over the more competitive districts in AL.

That is helpful. He did well on CFA at NASS and passed DODMERB and has 3.8 gpa and great LORs. Has leadership and strong athletic profile but SATs are low for USNA standards. We are hoping the nom from D3 will be enough. He'd be ecstatic to get NAPS. We will see. The waiting is the hardest part.

I don't see any downside to having your DS call your Congressman's Academy Coordinator and ask whether he/she has been notified of any appointments from your district.
Your Congressman is totally out of the decision-making loop at this point, can't influence any outcomes and is notified of all appointments from his/her district a few days before the BFE is mailed.
I wouldn't be a pest by making too many calls; but I know that our Senator's office has been very helpful sharing information in the past.

I had not thought of that. I'll suggest it to my DS and tell him to keep it to one call. Thanks.
