We just tried to log into my DS USAFA application, and were directed to create a Portal username account. Do all 2018 applicants now have Portals? Thank you for information.

I believe so, yes. I just created my account. :)
It still brings you to the same page, you just have new login information.

The EA thing is back up on mine for some reason.

Same here for the EA. I don't think it means anything important though since we already heard our status on that.

Sorry for asking something that is probably very obvious, ha ha, but what is EA?

Not to mention there are updated forms for in-processing!!!

Portal not working

I just tried to log into my portal and I saw a login page that was new. It asked for username and password rather than ssn and dob. when I entered my ssn and dob it didn't recognize me. is this happening to anyone else?

There's a link just under the username and password fields for new registrations. Click that & you can create an account under the new system.

Did the USAFA send out a notification that this was going to change, or was it a discover it as you go kind of thing? Being a curious (some might classify as a tad bit nosy) parent, I asked my son after reading about this. My son wasn't aware of the change, so he checked and set up his new access id. He said he did not receive a notification email regarding the new logon interface.

My DS received no notification, he just went to log in on his portal and found the log in screen had been changed.

Change in the Portal Login

The portal login change has been in the works for some time. While using the Social Security number was an acceptable process a decade ago, it is no longer a prudent method.

USAFA purposely did not pre-announce the change because we wanted to avoid a "sign-on storm" with too many people trying to access the system simultaneously, especially with applications for the class of 2019 opening on Saturday.
