MSIV with Army email issues - any ideas?

I hope I can clearly convey the problem here - before I do, I would like to state that the cadet in question has talked to both the human resources technician and the LTC at her battalion about the situation, and it seems to be a catch-22. From what she has said, the hr tech is very good, but this has him stymied.

Cadet DD went to CULP in 2012 and as part of mission was issued official diplomatic passport and military id card with CAC technology. The passports were collected at the end of the mission, but the cadets kept the id cards.

Sometime during February of last year (2013), dd and the other two cadets in her battalion who had been to CULP received notification that because they had CAC id cards, all their AKO email was being forwarded to "Enterprise" email which can only be accessed using a CAC card reader. DD had forgotten the pin that went with the CAC and so couldn't access her email, but she was able to work around it when preparing for LDAC and CTLT last summer.

Unfortunately, she lost the CAC id card while at CTLT. I am not sure exactly what transpired at the time, but she finished CTLT, came back to school, and and got a replacement id which does not have the CAC technology. Apparently, one can only get a replacement CAC card while on Active Duty or with orders in hand for Active Duty.

Since the release of branch assignments, dd has been working on trying to get access to her army email. I don't know the minute details, but I know that she has called various numbers and spent hours on the phone, independently and with her HR tech, talking to various people to try to get her email "unforwarded" from "enterprise" so that it comes back to AKO. Nothing so far has been successful - she was told recently that her email should now be unforwarded, but she is still getting nothing - and even if she was getting current things, she still has no way of getting TO anything that might have already gone to the "Enterprise" inbox - like the Request for Orders that would have her BOLC date.

So it seems that dd's lot for now is to wait until the hr person at the battalion receives her actual orders for BOLC at which time she can go get a replacement CAC card. Whether this will happen in two weeks or two months, she has no idea. She graduates in early June.

So really there are two problems/questions for which I am seeking suggestions - 1) dealing with the email snafu and 2) any alternate means of finding out the BOLC date.

Obviously, the BOLC date is what it is, but knowing it would help her make some decisions about how to spend the time between BOLC and when she reports. However, what's really worrying her more is that she might be receiving important emails - like maybe related to her security clearance - that she has no way to respond to.

Just looking for ideas... maybe somebody out there knows a cadet that had something similar happen or has a tech support contact that always has the answer? It's a long shot, but I thought I might as well ask.

Thanks for reading, and I hope I have used all the acronyms correctly

My HR tech was able to look up my BOLC date in CCIMS. Additionally, she can log in to AKO and to go to My Training. Scroll down, click on the My Training Record link under ATRRS. So long as she accesses it through AKO she will not need a CAC. This is the system used to reserve seats for training. If her BOLC reservation has already been made, it will show here.

Thanks mbtr!

Mbtr, thank you so much! You have made a couple of people's week-ends much better! DD followed your instructions and now knows a BOLC date! Sept 9 for MI BOLC in Arizona. Fairly simple to find once she knew where to look, but no one else knew to tell her to look there.

The email snafu seems likely to remain unresolved until the actual orders arrive, but at least one of the unknowns is known (barring changes), and she has a timeline.

You're welcome. She may not get her orders until much closer to her BOLC date. I was told mine could as late as two weeks out. She may or may not even have a RFO right now. I don't, I just have an ATRRS reservation.

If MI works like my branch, she'll probably get an e-mail from her TAC/the school house with reporting guidance that she isn't going to be able to access. It's probably a good idea to have her ask her PMS to call her branch manager for guidance on that at some point. Sometimes they get cranky when pre-accessed LTs and Cadets call them directly.

By the way, did she do a post ADSO?

She might be LDAC/LTC Cadre with that BOLC date. I have the master list of LT Cadre selects.

Now if only you had a master list of duty stations we'd be best friends.

Bayonet6, DD considered putting in to be LDAC/LTC cadre but in the end decided not to.

Mbitr, DD used an ADSO for branch but not post. The branch ADSO was apparently a good decision as the ADSO was used, and she got her first choice without a detail. Her top choices for posts are OCONUS, but the branch choice was more important to her.

Re the lack of access to email, she did mention it to the PMS who said he was going to look into it. She knows it is best if she does not contact the branch manager on her own for the reason you stated. Hopefully someone on the cadre or staff will make the contact on her behalf if the email situation remains as is and no orders show up in the next month or so.

I know for those who have an approved post ADSO the RFO supposedly contains their duty station. I don't know about everybody else.

I have a post ADSO approved, hello Hawaii. I'm a green to gold guy so I already have 5 yrs TIS and know I'm going to serve at least 15 more years so the additional time doesn't matter to me. Already experienced being stationed at Lewis and Sill, wouldn't want to go back to either.

Some folks have all the luck! :thumb: Although I expect it was the additional years as opposed to luck.

Did you find out it was approved through your RFO or through ROTC?
