I was a gymnast for 7 years and was diagnosed 3 years ago with a degenerative disk and a bulge. I am considering applying for the Naval Academy, but with my injury I am not sure if it would even be worth applying as I am pretty sure I would be disqualified on the medical exam. Upon receiving the diagnosis, I quit gymnastics. I did physical therapy and was cleared to participate in PE the following year. I have not had any back trouble for the past 3 years and I currently participate in a strenuous exercise program (CrossFit 5 days a week) and I don't have any trouble. I assume that I need to back to the orthopedic doctor for an update. Would a second opinion be of any help or benefit? Thanks for the help!

I'm just a Dad, but since it's been a while I'd start with the update and then seek additional advice based on that.
