I believe I have seen this hit on but I couldnt find the post, how many applications are reviewed each week? I know some have said as many as 200-250 offers will be handed out this week and today is when they are supposed to meet so I am just wondering.

I too am dying to know the answer to this.

Great Question....

But no answer. When rolling admissions was used, it was encouraged to get your file finished early, because your file could be reviewed several times before the deadline. Now, who knows? Admissions still meets every tuesday with the exception of holidays.

Packet for review

I got a response from WP that my packet is not scheduled for review until the next few weeks. Does it mean it was not reviewed yet or its in the waitlist?

The last 2 Face book responses from admission on appointments sent... 10 days apart with the most resent yesterday... total number of appointments sent is up to 926... 42 more than the 10 days previous... that may sound like good news, but I think they are down to the last few selections. The USMAPS will fill up many of the remaining slots, and 150 by law from the national waiting list will fill the rest, I do not imagine there are alot more districts left for them to debate...

Best of luck...

Even if it is a competitive slate?

The #1 on a competitive slate is the candidate with the highest WCS.
If that person is waiting for a waiver decision, then the appointment offered off that slate can't be made until admissions hears the decision about the waiver.

If the waiver is denied, then the appointment will go to #2 on the slate unless, of course, that person is medically DQ'd and waiting on a waiver.

An so on down the list until an offer can be made.

What about the Presidential noms? I know the nominations aren't actually charged until after R-day, but we keep talking here about the Congressional slots being won or whatever. Have they been issuing what will likely be charged as Presidential nominations yet? 100 or so slots. That's no small number. Do those get issued as they go along? Or at the end, after they've figured who's winning Senate noms, Rep noms, etc.?

I share your questions... in years past I imagine one sent in the application and waited for the mail man or perhaps the phone call. Today one would think the process would be a little more transparent and informative to candidates than what it is... what is so hard about letting a candidate know where they stand in the process, and how the process works? I will chalk it up to tradition and all must go through it, with perhaps no answers in the end. Thanks to all that post and answer question here...

Best of Luck

What specifically do you want to know that you have not received answers for?

16,000 applications this year, and from January until July, there are two classes applying. Conservatively, we'll put that at 20,000 candidates. There are five regions, plus Soldiers, plus minority, plus athletes with the last three having a much smaller applicant pool. Each RC has around 3k candidates somewhere in the process right now, plus parents, plus field force, plus potential candidates (sophomores and below), and numerous other competitors for their time like ROTC instructors, other senior officers, congressional staffs, etc. As much as they'd love to reach out to each and everyone, there aren't the hours in the day. Admitted candidates are full of questions (see other threads) and there are the small few priority cases that they are trying to work through that have a high likelihood of gaining admissions. If you are one of those 3Q plus nom that isn't hearing from your RC, it may be that they are working behind the scenes on your file OR that they are working someone else, but haven't ruled you out yet, OR you are mathematically eliminated, but they haven't had the time to get to that level of correspondence yet.

As far as NWL and presidential noms, this isn't a sequential process. They aren't holding all of them until the end of the MOC. Quite the opposite - they've made offers off the NWL already. Pretty easy to see a top WCS candidate that got "beat" by a principal nominee or another water-walker in their district is going to win one of those spots. It's those right around the cut line by WCS that they are looking at right now. Where exactly that line is gets firmed up every time that they make another offer/someone accepts, and becomes a little more ambiguous/lower every time someone declines.

You want a status, you need to stop being reactive. Ask your FFR what is going on if they are responsive to you. If not, give your RC a call or shoot them a quick email. Chances are they'll tell you where you stand - which could be good or bad - but at least you'll know.

DS took the advice of 845Something...but wrote a real letter to RC (yes, snail mail). RC replied back basically same info he's heard: hang in there. He went on further to say that not hearing at this point is neither good nor bad; it's just too early in the process. Having done this process before with a recruited athlete who had appointment in hand by November, I much prefer that way! Worrying, hand wringing, and constant phone calls to West Point aren't going to change any outcomes here...try to relax and make sure plan B is solid. I hope everyone waiting will be together for Rday :thumb:

It would be nice to know where DS stands in each slate he is on. Got email back from RC this AM... 3 slates close... #2 on list in district. Off to plan B.

Best of Luck

Plan B should have been concurrently worked.

If I reading your reply right, your DS is #2 on a slate.

If so that's not bad at all. We don't know what's going on with the #1, he or she could be a waiting for a medical wavier, offer has been made but he or she is leaning towards another school. My state 20 offers have been made and 14 accepted so far. Some of remaining 6 got their offers several weeks ago, which is good indicator that West Point is not their first choice. But the admissions office can't reallocate those slots until they are officially declined or they expire.

So depends on a candidates standing with the slate, knowing it doesn't help. If a candidate is #10, not likely to get an appointment, but if a candidate is #2 or #3, decent chance.

I know how hard it is at this point...waiting to hear knowing your son or daughter has put together an incredibly competitive application.

However, you know from year after year of watching them grow and mature into outstanding student citizens - making the right choices – sacrificing time to hit the books or serve in the community while their friends we spending weekends hanging out – turning in report card after report card that when they were not looking would bring a tear to your eye while bursting with pride – that they are truly special. I know my wife and I would say how lucky we are the hardest conversation with our son was reminding him to take out the trash!

The point to all this rambling is – while waiting for final word – don’t lose sight of the fact that by this time – they have already developed into an incredibly successful person – they have developed the tools and the character it takes to excel whichever direction they choose to go.

So while waiting – take time to celebrate the successes – make sure plan B is solid and remind yourself – your son or daughter are very special people who have demonstrated year over year they will excel whichever path they take.

Hang in there all and best of luck!

The wording RC used was the 3 slates DS was on, are now closed. I take this to mean offered and accepted. #1 would need to be disqualified for some reason. Not hoping for, or expecting this to happen. He also said DS WCS score not at a level that they typically get down to on the NWL. It is very good to know where DS stands, good or bad. Plan B, C and D are still in play. 1 school accepted, 1 school wait listed... waiting on 4 others, USAFA nom still out there.. ROTC scholarship(s) still pending..
Thanks to all that post here....Best of Luck....:thumb:
