What was your stats and profile? I really want to go to USAFA! I am starting to feel I am not competitive enough for USAFA, hopefully for prep school!

I second that! I feel like I may be in the same boat here. Getting nervous about direct appointment, keeping my fingers crossed though! USAFAPS would be such an awesome opportunity!

I'm right there with you two! I know for sure I'm not competitive for a spot at USAFA directly (I will be very surprised if I do get in), but I think I have a shot at USAFAPS. I'm hoping. Oh well... It is what it is. I just want to know already -_-

What was your ACT/SAT scores and GPA?

ACT- 26. 30 English. 26 math.
SAT- 590 verbal. 550 math.

Pretty low.. But GPA is a 3.923. Weighted. Not sure what it is unweighted. I moved from a small school to a larger school, so I was unable to take weighted courses my 9th/10th grade year.

Class rank: 13/165.

You?

I have been given an appointment for the USAFA PS.

SAT: 620 Math
550 Critical reading
530 Writing I believe.
Class rank 15/70
Unweighted GPA like a 3.7
2 time varsity track and field captain in HS. 3 time varsity wrestling captain. State qualifier in soccer senior year. Member of NHS. Member of Varsity Club, member of Students Against Destructive Decisions Club, VP of Foreign language club, member of French honor society, VP of computer aided design and drafting club.

I'm currently enlisted in the NY ANG. A member of the Junior Enlisted Council on base. Received 100 on my last PT test. Received NYS Physical Fitness Ribbon. Was an honor graduate from BMT. Tied for number one in my graduating tech school class for aerospace maintenance.

I'm a Volunteer firefighter and first responder, a two time volunteer track and field coach. A member of Team RWB-a veterans support group.

There are a few more things on my resume for awards and activity levels but that's a lot of it. Past and present. Any questions ask away or PM me!

You have really good Extracurricular activities! Decent GPA and test scores. What do you think of my profile?

I would say you are definitely qualified for the prep school. It just depends on what the Air Force is looking for. I think prior service helped me. It's tough to say if you'll get an appointment. In my eyes, you are qualified at a minimum standard. I don't know if they will view you as competitive or not. It's hard to give a definite answer.
Best of luck!

Thank you! Good luck to you also with prep school, and the academy!

Keep in mind that USAFAPS is almost exclusively for recruited athletes and prior-enlisted Airmen.

There are very few people who don't fall into one of those two categories.

Hey, that's not bad. Your other stuff will compensate. I have a composite 26 on my ACT (which kinda worries me lol). I'm also involved in quite a bit at school. NHS, math honor society, various community service organizations in which I hold officer positions, Vice President and coordinator of my youth group (10-15 kids). Varsity track, cross country, cheerleading, powerlifting. I had some pretty good recommendations from former military people. I have some other personal experiences I've been through that are different from the average person that might strengthen my application. Who knows.

Time will tell. If we don't get accepted at least we tried and completed the application! Good luck to ya :)

Hi all,
I feel like a stalker on all the forums.... I have been reading all and not commenting. My DD is still waiting, she received an email from her counselor last week stating she is probably not competitive enough for Appointment but will most likely be considered for the Prep Academy. We are hopeful for that opportunity as well. I wish you all the best and love reading and learning about this process. Your profiles all look amazing!!!!:thumb:

Does anyone know exactly how many Prep school offers there are for non-enlisted and non-recruited athletes?

It is all at the discretion of the Admissions Office. There are no exact numbers available.
