Hello everyone, class of 2018 appointee here.
I was just wondering if one could do both freefall parachute training and soaring at the academy. I've heard a lot of talk about the skydiving cadets do over the summer, or if they choose not to do that, they fly gliders. I want to skydive just as much as the next guy, but I don't have much flying experience, and I wish to become the best pilot I can while at the academy in order to get the best air frame during UPT. Is it possible/common to do both, either as summer training or as an elective? Thanks :thumb:

If do jump summer before 3* year, you can do soaring during your 3* academic year. If you soar during the summer, you can do jump during your firstie academic year. If you want to fly, get signed up for powered flight. That used to be firstie year. I think they're trying to do that 2* year now. The important thing is to meet with your academic advisor to get signed up!

Buffalo do you possibly know the opportunities that are available if you already have your private pilots license during your first year?

Thanks!

What if you are already USPA licensed skydiver before entering USAFA?

Can you try out for the demo team your freshman year?

Thanks!

Nope. Just focus on being a good doolie and then you'll go through the same process as the rest of your classmates... Get jump as your 3* summer airmanship program and then try out for the Wings of Green at the end of the summer.
