My DS was awarded a 3yr AD AROTC scholarship on the second board. His ROO has discussed with him the possibility of upgrading to a 3.5 or 4 yr. once he has been on campus a bit. The ROO instructed DS to bring workout clothes with him when we come to the school for orientation in June so that he can administer the APFT to him. He said it will play a strong part in determining if DS gets the scholarship upgrade. DS is not going to have any problem maxing out the sit-ups and push-ups. However, he is currently at least 30 seconds off from maxing the run time. That seems like a lot of time to make up between now and the middle of June. DH is working with DS on his running, but some of his problem seems to be with his form (an issue with "duck feet", which doesn't seem real easy to correct). I know that ideally DS should be able to max out the APFT in order to get the upgrade, and he's hoping to get the run time down by then. But, is it a "non-starter" if he can't?
