First time post here from middle Tennessee. My son, (DS) hope that is correct, has Army ROTC scholarship to the Citadel as well as a few other schools. Even though we are very excited, feeling a little overwhelmed with helping him look at his major, etc. Would welcome any advice now. :thumb:

Would you mind if I inquired as to how much your ROTC scholarship does NOT cover? We just got the good news that DS was awarded a 4 year but not sure what that will leave leftover to pay. Any info would be helpful! Thanks!

wish i knew the answer to this as well. maybe someone else can, it has not posted to our DS gateway so i have no idea. i am assuming it will be tuition and fees. we will be there next week but i feel like i need to call the office and find out what the new total will be. if you find out, i am in the same boat, any info would help! thanks !

Assuming your asking about Army ROTC you have choices.

1. Tuition and fees. The scholarship will cover tuition and most (usually all) fees. You will be responsible for picking up room and board and parking if you kid has a car.

2. Room and Board. For Army ROTC only, you can choose to have the scholarship applied to Room and Board. You will be responsible for picking up tuition and fees. Keep in mind that if you choose this option the scholarship money will be taxable. Any scholarships (not just ROTC) that are applied to Room and Board are taxable income.

AFROTC and NROTC do not give you these choices.

Hope this helps.
