Hello everyone,
I joined this forum because i'm worried that my past drug use will ruin my chances to get into Westpoint...

When I was 15, I took 2 puffs from a joint of marijauna (i didn't inhale very much). I regretted my decision immediately after and never used drugs ever again. I was never really worried about this incident because like I said, I only took in a small dosage. But apparently hair follicle tests can detect drug usage in the last 3 years...will the USMA drug-screening exam find out about my previous drug use?

P.S. I was peer-pressured into smoking marijauna. I'm not trying to justify my actions or anything like that...One year later and I have not even been tempted to do it again...

There are many people on here who have admitted to doing more than that, and still got in. Just be honest about it, and make them believe you are regretful, and that that stuff is behind you. You should be fine.

The "key" word here is HONESTY! Be honest on your application about ANY prior illegal drug use. Another issue going on here is PEER PRESSURE and bowing down to it. Yes, you are young and inexperienced BUT you MUST take the higher road if you want to LEAD others in a manner of CHARACTER and INTEGRITY. Best of luck to you in the application process.

Thank you for the quick replies. I'm so relieved that i may still have a chance to get in....

Out of curiosity though, is the drug screening test so accurate that they will be able to detect that i took a puff of marijauna years ago?

Like previous responses..just be 100% truthful, stay clear of all drugs and alccohol and you will be fine and no...a drug test will not pick up a drug used 2 years ago...

Hopefully your questions about the accuracy of the testing don't indicate that you might not be completely forthcoming with the information. As others have said, your best bet is to come clean and acknowledge your mistake. Integrity will be valued more highly than a perfect past.

Thank you for the replies, i guess there is no way to avoid telling the truth...I won't lie about my past drug use..what kind of drug screening exam do they administer (urine analysis, hair follicle analysis, blood, etc.)?
