I am planning on going to either MMI or NWP as a free-agent SAP student this fall. I primarily want to focus on raising my SAT scores. I know that NWP has a good track record for improving candidates scores, but I dont know as much about MMI. As a SAP cadet at MMI, what is the SAT/ACT class schedule and how much prep will I do? And what is the average amount SAP cadets raise their scores by? My current score is an 1830.

You didn't mention what academies you were applying for, so we really can't answer how much you need to improve your score. You should, however, be looking at scoring your best, not at what numbers you need to achieve.

MMI and NWP have different missions and philosophies. MMI is an accredited military junior college, so all your courses will be for college credit. In addition, you'll be a member of a corps of cadets, so you'll be living an academy lifestyle. This does include formations and parades as well as classes.

The courses you'd take at MMI depend on which academy you're applying to. All SAP take a year composition, chemistry and math, usually precalculus. If you're primarily applying to West Point, you'll take US History. If you're applying to Navy, Coast Guard, or Merchant Marine you'll take Physics. Air Force takes an additional math course first semester with physics second semester. Also in the first semester are two hours per week of SAT prep courses. It's a full load for every student!

Continue to compare the two schools and see which one is the best fit for you. I suggest you contact the schools directly if you have more questions.

This is very helpful, thank you for your reply! I plan on reapplying to USNA, USAFA, and either USMA or USMMA. I want to end up at an academy the flowing year, but I will apply to ROTC schools for back up.
