This is completely out of curiosity, but do you think CVW candidates receiving appointments are generally high? Like say, for example, a candidate is 3Q'd with a nom and also invited to CVW, is that generally a good chance of being accepted? If anyone has some supporting information, too, that would be great. I know there are no numbers to tell so, but if anyone has any thought that would be great.

Thanks!

I don't know if there is any correlation but i went on a CVW back in October and recently got my BFE. From the mids I talked to they said it is a good sign if you are invited for a CVW but it isn't a guarantee of an appointment.

Agree.

3q'ed 2 noms DS invited to CVW last Feb. Recieved copy of very favorable report written by host.......TWE April 8th 2010. So, no corrlelation/guarantee with CVW and appointment

CVW at West Point

I am going to be leaving for west point soon for a CVW. I know i will stay with a first year cadet and will shadow him, but will I do the physical training that he has to do throughout the day? What should I expect?

When I went to my CVW in October, plenty of Plebes told me that getting invited was the first step to receiving an appointment. I received my BFE just 3 months after.

Just so no one's disappointed later, receiving an unrequested CVW is not a guarantee of an appointment. I am proof of it. I went to a CVW in October, got the TWE in March.

DS received an unsolicited CVW as well. Got TWE in the recent wave.

I went to a CVW and received a BFE, but I know of two other people that went on a CVW, but didn't revived a BFE.

From what I've read drags are not evaluated during their CVW. However, all whom I've spoken with say, every time your DS/DD is on the Yard in an official capacity is under scrutiny.

I guess this is the tie breaker.

Being invited to CVW doesn't seem to indicate anything. MY DS was invited in September of his junior year. He was one of only a handful of 11th graders there. He was also invited to STEM the year before and NASS the year after. He got his TWE a few weeks ago. So, not sure what any of it means.

I agree, mrs. m. My DD was invited to a CVW in Sept. and she just received the TWE on Sat.

All the candidates in our area where invited to CVW and all of them received TWE. It means nothing except that you can spend a few days at the Academy if you can afford it.

Not one kid my DS met at CVW (that he kept in touch with) or knew that was going to CVW received an appointment except for him. He has met others now who have appointments that went but we were surprised it was 0 other than him.

Even though I attended CVW and had a congressional and pres nom, I still got the TWE for USNA last Friday :(

Good luck!
