Please see the following message from Midshipman Ryan Raffo '14, class president, regarding this year’s commencement exercises. Commencement will take place at the Academy on Saturday, June 21.

The Class of 2014 is honored to have distinguished graduate, Admiral Mark H. Buzby ’79, speak at our graduation. We are proud to start the tradition of inviting a Kings Point graduate to be a speaker during the graduation ceremonies. The class is excited to have Admiral Buzby be the first alumnus to begin this important tradition. Admiral Buzby will speak before Anthony Foxx, the Secretary of Transportation.

Mark Kelly was the distiguished speaker at my son's graduation in 2012 and he is a KP graduate.....

I think CAPT Mark Kelly '86 gave 2012's Commencement Address, as opposed to what is planned for RADM Mark Buzby '79--that of "Distinquished Alumni Speaker" during the graduation ceremony--prior to the Commencement Address.

Yeah, looks like they will have two speakers from now on. One as the selected graduation speaker and another that is an alumnus.

Could be a way of trying to avoid what happened at 2013 graduation with flyover. Maybe they believe that having a distinguished alum would preclude anyone from wanting to embarrass that speaker. But I wouldn't bet on it.

I won't be waiting by the mailbox for my invite.

That was one hell of a flyover x 3. Shocking in mvho.

What happened at the 2013 graduation? My DS graduated in 2012 and everything went well.
