Hello all!

I am currently a Junior in high school, and will most likely be applying to VMI next year as a safety to USNA and USMA. My question is this, is there anything I should be working on as far as the VMI application goes (other than the obvious: school, sports, extracurriculars etc...)? Are there any summer programs like the SA's?

Thanks

steve

To the best of my knowledge there is no program like the SA's summer programs until after you are accepted when you can (and should) go to the one month summer transition program. You should go to one of the overnight visits that they host- although they have a couple scheduled this spring, since you are a junior ,my suggestion would be to wait and go in the fall so that you can see the Rat line in action rather than in the spring after the Rats have "broken out". Enjoy your summer- get a job, go on vacation with your family, have a good time (but stay out of trouble)!

I realize your question is about VMI but since you're a Junior, you should look at all options out there. The Citadel does have two, month long summer programs combining academic, study skills while under military stress and transitional conditioning from a civilian to military lifestyle school setting. It's called CSI and many cadets rave about attending it prior to matriculation.
