Wait-list NROTC Scholarship?

Is anyone here familiar with the wait-list for NROTC? I received an email today stating I had been placed on the waiting list for my three schools, and that "a decision will be made at a later date" regarding what school and where. Because my number one is the school I really desire to go to (UVA, anyone?) and I am in-state, would that be enough to slot it in for Virginia?

The reason I post here is because the information that has been released has been annoyingly low on pertinent information.

Thanks!

I don't know how deep they go into the waiting list but it cant hurt to call the CO at UVA and see if they have any possible openings. DS is 4th year at UVA nrotc. He has had a great time, done very well and its a nice size unit. Have you been accepted yet? DS went in as a college programmer and received a 2 yr scholarship. If the scholarship doesn't work out you can go in as a non scholarship midshipman and try for the 2 or 3 yr scholarship. He never applied for the 4 year one.

Yeah, I was accepted in the early action pool and only found out last week that my original number one wasn't going to work. I found out last Monday, and was put on the waiting list by Wednesday. Since I'm in-state, I would hope that would put me near the top of the list but honestly I have no idea.

Thanks for the advice to give the CO a call. If I am able to go the UVA route, do you or your son have any tips you'd like to pass on? Any little bit could help :shake:

The unit has a great reputation as does the school. PM me with any specific questions you may have. Being instate for you may help the waitlist issue, we are OOS and the tuition was Ivy numbers for 2 years. Are you Marine option or Navy?

Sorry for the late response!

I found out yesterday that the scholarship transferred successfully to UVA. I will be a Marine option First Year 4/c (wow that's a mouthful) :shake:

What is your DS?

Prospective USMC, congrats. Take good care of your Marines and they will walk through the fires of Hell for you. Best of luck to you. Semper Fi
