I completed my application on January 14, 2009. Does anyone know when I will find out whether or not I get in?

Thanks,
Jim

jstenson,

Your BGO can tell you the status of your file and when your record will go before the admissions board. The board meets on Thursdays. The board will first determine if yu are academically qualified. Since it is a rolling admissions process, the board will have three possible answers to your app: (1) Yep, we want him, give them an LOA (if you don't yet have a nom) or a Fully Qualified Offer of Appointment (FQ) (if you do have a nom). (2) Nope, no thanks, your record does not fit for the class of 2013. (3) We're not sure yet. Let's wait and see how the other apps look.

In the case of #1 Congrats, you'll get a letter from the Academy shortly.
#2 You'll get a letter shortly. If this is your dream, start now on making your application for the class of 2014 very strong. Enroll in and do well in Calculus, Physics, Chemistry and have those in your college transcript to send in before Jan 31 2010.
#3 You'll hear nothing until they reach either #1 or #2.

Since Pre-apps close 31 Jan, and the full packages must be complete by 1 Mar, final notification may not be until March or April. I've heard of some folks getting notified in June!

Have patience and keep in touch with your Blue and Gold Officer. She or he can keep you apprised of how things are going.

I know the wait can be killer, but I have to warn you, there are candidates who don't find out one way or the other until May. There are few of those, but you should know that it could be a while.

Good luck!

Im at a drag weekend right now, typing this on a mids computer!! Anyway, i was talking to a mid and he didnt receive his offer untill 2 weeks before I day. He had already commited to and sent a deposite to another school but he finally got in here and took the appointment. The wait sucks, im still waiting too.

Then where do NAPS aspirants appear?

Then where do NAPS aspirants appear?

NAPS and USNA Foundation offers are subsets of #2 and, later, those #3s who become #2s.

Also of note: The admissions board plans to notify all class of 2013 candidates of their status by 15 April 2009.

I noticed that you put FQ. What if it's just a Q on the screen, even though you have noms and passed medical? Does it mean the same?

The "q" appearing in your medical or academic blocks indicate you are qualified in that area. A "q" on your CFA would make you a "triple q'd" candidate awaiting final decision (#3 in the original post). The "FQ" appears in the BGIS system in the USNA status block, when a fully qualified offer of appointment has been made to a candidate.

Your nom status is independent of those, although you must have a nom to have a chance to move from "triple q" to FQ.

Hope this helps.

Hi, Are you talking about designations on the candidate page that is available for viewing as a BGO? Our son has an LOA for USNA and a nomination. He is waiting on a medical waiver, there are no "q's" anywhere on his Candidate Information Page. It does show his nomination. The only place that shows his LOA (other than the letter he received) is his DODMERB status page which shows subagency:NALOA
Just checking...

Is it possible that the q in the medical and academic blocks is on a page only for BGO's? We got a letter stating son was academically qualified, were told during a CVW that he was "Triple Q'd" yet there is nowhere on the candidate page for any Q's.

Hi pmlutton, my son recently received his appt to USNA and like your son he had an loa.
His CIS page never indicated that he was 3Q'd. The "medically qualified" appeared in October and that was the last time anything changed on there. The DODMERB page listed on the subagency: NALOA. When he was told of his appt, that changed to US NAVAL ACADEMY. That was the only thing that was changed on either site. He was in the dark as to whether he was actually 3Q'd. Hang in there! the waiting is really hard for the kids.

My Mid who also received a LOA never did get a 3Q'd letter. The Scholastically qualified letter came after the LOA and about a week before the actual Appointment.

Yes. All the more reason to stay in touch with your BGO.
