Dropping Marine FCB (HBCU) Scholarship?

I am in a predicament on what I should do. I have been awarded the Marine FCB NROTC scholarship, but this scholarship is only applicable to a select number of HBCU's. I am unsure if I should deny the scholarship, go for College Program MO and re-try for the national NROTC scholarship or a sideload, as I do not want to attend any of the schools the FCB permits. In truth I'd rather attend the school of my choice and pay out of the pocket instead of attend a school I would not enjoy. Any thoughts?

I have a tendency to do that haha. I have decided that I will not pass up on this offer and will proceed with it after discussing with a few alumni. Sorry for taking up forum space!

No, it's a good question that perhaps some folks here can provide input on. Nevertheless your original statement sounded pretty definite about NOT doing it.

EDIT:So what are your reasons for deciding not to pass it up?

Well, too late for input, but my thoughts:

OP said he "does not want to attend" any of those colleges... my question is, how does he know? Has he visited, got the feel for the campus, and then decided that, or does he not think he will not like it without really knowing?

If OP truly doesn't want to be at any of those colleges, it will be a really long four years prior to commissioning at whichever one he dislikes the least.

Hmm, why did you even check the box for FCB?

I have a son that is an E3 in the Corps and I pray if you become a Lt. in the Corps you are more decisive and look before you leap.

To my mind the school choice should be a very distant 2nd choice to earning the Title. Where you graduate from should not matter in 10 years.
