I slept in late, woke up, asked my parents if we could wait till the mail came before leaving for my grandparents. Low and behold, MY NOMINATION CAME :D :D I got nominated for USAFA and USMA from my congressman. I also received a letter from West Point. This is the reason for the thread. It sounds like a 3'qd letter but im not sure.

"The admissions office has recieved all your information and the admissions committe has reviewed your application and you have been found fully qualified. Although fully qualified, we have not yet recieved a nomination for you."

it goes on about nominations reaching WP 4-6 weeks after i am notified. no offer of admisision possible without nomination. They say to keep updating my file, and send 7th semester transcript.

But can someone explain the fully qualified part. Is this a 3'qd letter? Since I got the nomination will i get Appointed?

Thanks in advance :thumb:

Flyers! Oh Happy Day, indeed! Congratulations on your nominations! The USMA letter sure sounds encouraging, without knowing anything else, I would make sure to follow their instructions (regarding 7th semester transcript, etc). I'd say "fully qualified" means "fully" qualified! Congratulations!!!

Thanks :D my semester ends wednesday so I'll talk to guidance about that.

Congrats on the nomination! It is getting exciting around here with all the nominations and appointments rolling in.

Congrats on the nominations, flyersboy114!

Sounds like the USMA 3Qed letter to me. Keep updating your file and send in your 7th semester transcript - so far you have been pretty good at following directions...just keep it up. :thumb:

So I am surprised to find you in the USMA forum......welcome and I hope you are here to stay....

You may have a decision to make.

Best of luck to you!

Thanks guys :D :D

USMA has always been my second choice. My desire to serve started in third grade when I showed my mom an Army enlistment brouchure, so maybe thats a sign. I have been out to USAFA, going to USMA next week, I am very excited. If I am lucky enough to recieve appointments to both it will be a hard decision

Thanks again

Enjoy your visit to USMA next week! Try to find time to visit the museum if at all possible...it is behind the visitor center.

I was already planning on it, I love history

O and the letter, does that mean that since I have the nom I will get the appt?

Read the letter again. Take whatever Admissions says very literally. If you were invited for an overnight visit then they are very interested in you.

Congrats again on the nomination to West Point!

P.S. West Point has a very fine History Department.

My son went on a daily visit...he got a good introduction to West Point. You will get to spend a lot of time with a cadet. Admissions asked who was interested in talking with them...take them up on that offer.

After the visit my son and I took the Visitor Center bus tour of West Point and then visited the museum. It closes at 4 pm so be sure to leave time to see it!

Just a hint from my son - leave the letter jacket at home.

I know a cadet and I requested him to give me the tour, so thats a plus too. Do you know what time the tour ends?

This is probably more info than you need but here goes (from https://candidate.usma.edu/guest/CQ/agree_before_entry.cfm:
DAILY VISIT INFORMATION

The USMA Admissions Office offers daily candidate orientation visits for students interested in applying to West Point. Visits are scheduled Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays during the academic term, the program begins at 8:45 a.m. and concludes at approximately 1:00 p.m. During the visit, prospective candidates accompany their cadet escorts to class, visit the barracks and eat lunch with their escorts in the Cadet Mess. While the candidate takes part in an escorted tour, family and friends receive a group orientation brief to learn about the Admissions process and cadet life, which is followed by a guided-walking tour of the academic areas.

Personal Expenses

Meals:
All candidates are responsible for purchasing their meal tickets to eat in the cadet mess hall during daily and overnight visits. Candidates should report a half hour early, 8:15 a.m., to the Admissions Office to check-in and receive their meal tickets. Personal checks, debit cards and credit cards are not accepted for payment. Exact change in cash is requested. Family and friends may eat lunch at their discretion after the conclusion of the walking tour at various restaurants on- or off-post.
Candidate meal prices are:
# Daily Visit: $5.60(subject to change) - Lunch

West Point has a golf team...if you are interested in playing contact the golf coach. (My younger son was a HS golf team member, too. Great sport!)

Thanks for everything!

Im not so positive I'm good enough to play Golf for WP. I am an average high school golf athlete, so I am almost positive I wouldnt make the team.
