So after 1.225 months of waiting, I finally heard back from NROTC about my waiver request. I was diagnosed with sports induced asthma when I was young but grew out of it by 11 and my doctor stopped prescribing the meds at age 12. However, my doctors office never took them off my "active meds" so now dodmerb thinks I still took them after 13 and so had asthma after 13. A no no. Even though my doctor has explained numerous times that this was a mistake and I haven't had asthma since before 13. The NROTC has requested a methacholine chlorine challenge test and then this other thing which is a lot more open ended. I am wondering what all should I include in this because I could write about so much:
R251.21 - Please provide additional information regarding exercise tolerance: signed/dated statement regarding the past 6 months: 1) running (distance, duration, frequency, pace), 2) breathing symptoms (wheeze, cough, chest tightness, circumstances), 3) interventions (inhaler, singular, rest, etc)
I no longer have asthma so 2 and 3 are easy, I have none. However, I run varsity track and I was wondering what they would be looking for in my running patterns. I'm a sprinter but I also do distance sometimes, I'm one of the fastest on our team. I don't get out of breath or anything like that. I just need to word this the right way so that there is no doubt that I DO NOT have asthma so I want to know what they're looking for. Please help, I just want this red tape to be over.
