Well, actually tonight for us. Well, actually for my daughter :shake:

Less than 12 hours and I'll be pinning those 2nd LT bars on my DD after my USMC Captain father reads her the oath. She'll then turn and and give her first salute to her USAF E-7 cousin who flew in from Texas for the ceremony....my son was also permitted to skip PT this morning from his ROTC battalion at Boise State to fly in as well.

Should be a pretty cool day :thumb:

Congratulations K2rider to you and your daughter!
My wife and I pinned our daughter's bars on this past Saturday. A very emotional moment. :thumb:

Congrats, and thank you to her and your entire family for defending this great country.

Out of all the family pics I have of Bullet and my children, my very favorite is from his commissioning. You do not see either of their faces, just two men in uniforms hugging each other. The emotion says it all about how a parent and child feels on that glorious day.

God Bless and God Speed.

Congratulations to your daughter.

Enjoy the evening, the ceremony is great.

Congratulations k2rider! Soak it all up and have plenty of tissues. I still have 1 year and 1 week to go but I'm thinking about it all the time, even now. Once we get to that point, I'll consider my job done, not that there has been much to it the last few years other than writing rent checks. May God bless you all.

She'll then turn and and give her first salute to her USAF E-7 cousin who flew in from Texas for the ceremony.

Correction... She will RETURN her first salute after her cousin first renders that sign of respect to her... her first as an officer. I'm sure you have every reason to be so proud of your daughter. It is a very important day in your kid's life. I have four short years to wait until I attend my boy's commissioning.

Congratulations to you and your family on your daughter's commissioning.

One journey finished, a greater one about to begin.

Congratulations! I'm sure it must be a very exciting time for all of you.

K2Rider: Congratulations to your DD! A great accomplishment and the pinning on of the butter bars sounds like a real family affair.

Congrats to all and their families who will be commissioning. Although I have never been to a commissioning ceremony, I can only imagine the emotions that are flowing from everyone.. I'm already choked up and I still have 3 years to go..

K2Rider, Congratulations to your DD, you and the rest of the family. It's going to be a special night you'll cherish forever!

Congratulations!!!!

Yesterday afternoon was my son's day! It was truly amazing. My husband and I both pinned on the bars.
The retired PMS who brought him into the school and was there for his freshman and sophomore years is a "brother" in the drill/honor guard at his school and he is the one who gave him his oath. Since he is the one who gave him the oath when he commissioned as a cadet, it was truly very special.

It was just inspiring to watch these young cadets.
