I met with a grad school classmate of mine Monday. She had been a staffer on the Hill (House).

Recently they had a spat of sexual harrassment issues. Those issues are reported to the House Compiance office, where the office sits on them unless there are repeat offenses OR someone pursues more action.

I found this very interesting, considering the pressure members of Congress are putting on the military to enhance a "culture" that allows sexual harrassments and assaults.... all while the Congressional process is FAR more lax.

"But LITS, it doesn't happen much on the Hill, right?"

Um, I think we would all be surprised with an investigation into how sexual harrassment and assaults are handled on the Hill, especially in cases involving staff and members.

Amazing.

Congress often exempts themselves from rules/laws that apply to us mere mortals. They're "special". Why would you be surprised LITS?

Lits,

It's pretty clear you have a tainted view of congress and all things congressional... perhaps with good reason. And there is no doubt there is room for improvement, but do we really have it so bad? I always try to remember the quote by Churchill...

“Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others.”

How about one from Mark Twain?

"Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it."

I'm guessing my tainted view comes from my proximity to the reality of this circus in Washington, D.C.
