Great opportunity.

Core Group Resources, Kongsberg Partner for Training
BY MAREX

Core Group Resources and Kongsberg have teamed up to offer 60 maritime college/academy cadets the option to attain the DP basic certificate. This certificate will allow cadets to attain 30 days of basic riding time while still at maritime academies prior to graduation.

“We are working on filling the Dynamic Positioning certificate gap for the offshore drilling industry” says Matt Fuhrman – Managing Director at Core Group Resources. “This is an unprecedented time of growth for licensed mariners and the nautical institute has created a choke point with the DPO certificate for Dynamic Positioning Operators. We are working hard to fill this gap and happy to be partnered with Kongsberg on this venture.”

The course is called the Cadet Accelerated Program or DPO CAP and is being held at Kongsberg in Houston, TX this week. This course is only available for maritime academy/college graduates currently enrolled in school. The next course is going to be held on July 14, 2014.

.... only available to "graduates" currently enrolled in "school"?

I picked that up too by the MAREX people, but I think you get the idea. It's a great opportunity for cadets/midshipmen to pick up DP training and experience.

That's interesting, what is the price and how are the students selected?

If I am correct, the course is about $2000.00 and all you do is sign up for it. Our DS took a course right after 2013 graduation, now is working in the DPS field in the Gulf and he has a sweet 28 day on/off schedule.
