Still Waiting

My application was completed entirely on January 8th. Since then I have not received anything from West Point. I have already paid college dues and have a roommate selected incase West Point does not work out, but at the same time I can't help but be extremely frustrated with how long it is taking West Point to send me a response. At the very least I could be notified where my application is standing, but I honestly just feel like I have been forgotten. Can anybody explain to me why I have heard absolutely nothing back or where exactly I stand?

Totally agree....call or email. You should be able to get an answer. What does your portal reflect?

Same situation for my son. No mail, no change to the portal, no response to phone messages or emails to admissions. It is very stressful to have communication whatsoever. Are you a current Soldier? My son is.

I emailed my RC 3 weeks ago and he told me I would hear within 2 weeks. After the 2 weeks elapsed I emailed him again and once again he told me I would hear within 2 weeks.... No I am not a current soldier, just a frustrated 18 year old.

Well, I feel for you. We tried Admissions a couple times again today. I know they won't bother to respond but, man, if they would just put something on his portal or send an email, we would leave them alone. I would think at some point, they will respond just because they are sick of the messages. Life is really tough for us right now too! I hope we both here SOMETHING soon. Keep me posted.

And 4 hours later...

You're not forgotten if you are getting a response and obviously have heard a response since you said so in your next post. You either have a cognitive disconnect in understanding real time events around you or are looking for a pity party in your honor online. Tell me which of those bodes well for a future Army officer?

For all those still waiting, my guess is you're on the bubble, the RC is hoping to get you in, but doesn't want to get your hopes up in case the spots fill up and is not allowed to give you a probability of getting in (take a moment to read this forum and imagine if the RC had to turn around and respond to every "what are my chances" email). Unfortunately because of the way appointments work by law, there is no simple "you are next in line for an appointment" update that they can give you. Between the uniqueness of each file at this point, and the fact that there are only two things that go onto the portal (standardized letters and notifications to all portals) you aren't going to get information that way. Prepster offers still have to be evaluated by admissions and sent out...so you are far from the only ones waiting at this point.

djames,

Just curious - did you have a nomination (of the "usual" sort: congressional, presidential, ROTC, VP, etc.)?

My son received a presidential nomination but he cannot get any communication via phone calls or email.

If this is the case with those that have posted here, the RC doesn't have much to tell you. The RCs are not cruel and heartless people. They are working hard for the candidates. It's frustrating to not know or hear anything this late in the game, but at least you're still in the game. Hang in there.

Does anyone know if there is a specific date that West Point offers must be accepted by?

Update: just received rejection letter in the mail. Good luck to everybody who made it and represent your country well!

I'm so sorry....

I know its very difficult for you guys right now. I would encourage to do some soul searching and figure which path to travel in the future. If you do re-apply, and I encourage this, figure how and what to do and improve your weaknesses on your application. Either attend a prep school or enroll in college. Please continue your education and improve.

For those who are reading this, it has always been encouraged to have a Plan-B.
