How good do national honor society and boys state look on your application? I also play football baseball and winter track, and am a student body representative. How good do these look? I am also going to become an officer in a club hopefully next year. Thanks for any responses

USMA looks favorably on NHS, Boys State and Varsity sports/team captainship. Remember it's Whole Candidate Score, so having these ECs doesn't guarantee anything, but it will definitely help. Class rank and ACT/SAT scores are most important. Good luck!

Okay, what sat scores should I aim for? I am around top 10% of my class

Keep in mind that the scores in the profile are for all admits. Over 1/4 do not come directly from high school and include prepsters and soldiers whose scores may not be as high as direct admits.

Therefore, if applying from high school (direct admit), to be competitive, you need to add 30-40 points to the SAT means and 1-2 points to the ACT means that you see on the profile.

You should aim for 800 SAT/36 ACT for each section.

You should not be content with your scores until you have taken both tests multiple times and are convinced you have done absolutely the best you possibly can.

You should not succumb to the perception that you can't prepare or that preparation will not make a difference. So prepare with a book or a prep class ahead of the tests.

Lastly, start early and plan to take the tests multiple times. Use the time you have now in your summer wisely.

I've taken the sat already, and am signed up to take it again. I am also signed up to take the act.

Recent instructions from an RC: unless you've broken 700/700 math &reading you need to keep testing. And do both SAT and ACT.

No downside to multiple testing, only upside

What are the average scores for the usma prep school? If anyone knew it would be helpful! Thanks

I don't know what the avg scores are but the mins are above 500 SAT or above 20 on ACT.

But - there are only 246 slots for USMAPS and they usually go to recruited athletes, soldiers and URMs. Don't think of USMAPS as Plan B.
