How Strong is Our Military....

Yes, we are the dominant military power on the globe. Where I think the author is wrong is to assume that technological and numerical superiority can almost always determine the outcome. Could we destroy any other military on the planet? Almost assuredly. Could we do it without significant losses?....less certain.

No major war would be a guaranteed cakewalk.

I'll side with the "if you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck" group AND "walk softly and carry a big stick" groupies.

+1. There is also this related thing which affects military power called will. A weaker power with a strong will can and has overcome vastly superior forces even when they didn't win on the battlefield.

Well, I believe France had more tanks, some would argue better quality, than Germany at the beginning of World War II.

All the fire power we had didn't change the outcome of Vietnam.

All the tanks we have won't matter if we can't get them to the conflict or the terrain doesn't support them (I.e. Korea)

I believe AH 64 was developed to kill tanks, not an IED team.
