Just a little background before I pose my questions:
I am currently outprocessing from West Point (was going to be a rising cow, or junior) and plan on applying to Georgia Tech as a transfer student starting this upcoming 2015 spring semester. I have considered doing an ROTC program but am having difficulty finding information pertaining to transfers.
My questions pertaining to scholarships/financial aid:
Is it possible to apply for an AFROTC scholarship as a transfer student? If so, can I apply it if I am starting school during a spring semester? If not, is there any other type of similar financial aid I can get as part of an AFROTC program? Also, my state (Georgia) has the HOPE scholarship program, which basically is an automatic scholarship that pays for full college tuition as long as you maintain a certain GPA. If I received this, would I be able to use the AFROTC scholarship to cover room and board or other likewise college expenses?
My questions pertaining to the AFROTC program:
As a prior cadet with military training and a transfer student, is there an accelerated program (similar to the LTC program in Army ROTC) and/or way to validate training events with prior experience (such as the required field training, leadership courses, etc.)?
I probably have more questions, but these are the ones off the top of my head based on preliminary research. I would greatly appreciate any input from those who have gone through a similar experience or are otherwise knowledgeable. Thanks!
