Just curious if anyone has received their login and password yet? My son just returned from NASS 1 and we wanted to see his fitness scores but are unable to login because we have not gotten his password etc. Thank you.

Unless they've changed the candidate portal from last year (class of 2018), the CFA scores will not show up, but will show a checkmark or date if completed/satisfactory. The USNA portal is less interactive than the USMA portal. Your DS should have been told how he did on the CFA while at NASS.

They won't post the scores. They do give them out during NASS though.

Those were just sent out in the mail to candidates during NASS session 1 so they should be arriving shortly.

ca2midwestmom is right. You won't be able to see your scores on the online portal. If your son didn't pass the CFA, he would of been notified on the last day of NASS. So if he wasn't notified, then that's a good sign. If he still wants to know how he did, have him contact his squad leader (he should have his/her phone number, facebook friends, etc.) and see what they entered for them.

But also just because it's checked marked in the Portal, it doesn't mean you can't do it more than once. If your son is unsatisfied with his performance or just wants to try to improve it, then he can do it again with a certified PE instructor from his school and submit his scores to the Academy.

Thank you. I just talked to my son and he said he passed. So should we worry about how he did or consider this one thing complete? Does anyone know if they look hard at the scores or if they just look for a pass/fail?

CFA is pass/fail, BUT. . .

You can earn bonus points on the Whole Person Score by doing extremely well on certain sections, especially mile run, crunches and push-ups. They don't tell you the minimums to pass (don't tell BGOs either), but you can look at the max scores and get some idea of how you measure up.

This past candidate cycle was super-competitive and this upcoming year promises more of the same. You do NOT want to leave "points on the table." So, if your scores weren't pretty close to the max, consider taking the summer to improve, retake the CFA, and submit higher scores. It can only help you. If your scores were at or near the max in all events, then there is no need to retake.

Also, if you are very active in varsity athletics, especially those that require running and/or strength, a mediocre CFA is less likely to hurt you. However, if you don't do varsity sports (or out-of-school equivalent such as swim leagues) and/or your sports are martial arts, golf, sailing, pistol, etc., USNA will look more critically at the CFA.

Congrats to him! He can try to improve his score (he may be allowed to retake it), but it is only 10% (I believe) of the WCS (whole candidate score). If your DS passed the CFA, but does not have a 36 on the ACT or 1600 on the SAT, or isn't in the top % of his class, etc, he should focus now on academics, AP classes, ECs and securing a nomination.
