We're starting to collect items to send off to our new midshipman during Plebe Summer. While I have found a couple of photos of the standard con locker in Bancroft, it's difficult to determine specific dimensions.

I can see that the shelves are adjustable in height. Does anyone know the inside depth and width measurements?

3-4 feet in depth and around a foot wide.

Be careful about sending items...every company is different but in 2011 we sent our Plebe items 'recommended' on boards and he had too much to store to his company's liking. Couple items confiscated as contraband (e.g. small fllashlight) Ended up pitching many brand new items including snacks. The road to getting fried over room inspection is paved with good intentions. We did write very short letters almost every day just talking about what was going on and his sports teams. Avoided the temptation to give advice and put inspirational quotes. Plebe said he was getting plenty of inspiration whether he wanted it or not. But the short (they don't have time to read War and Peace) letters Plebe said was helpful. Of course every Company and Plebe is different, my 2 cents is helping is always helping. Good luck.

I wouldn't send anything except lots of letters and small (shoe box size) care packages with healthy snacks and maybe some tide pens. (there is a thread around here with suggested items). Anything else most likely will not be allowed especially during plebe summer. They are very limited to what personal items they are allowed to keep in their rooms, and they really do get issued just about EVERYTHING they will need. Also, they most likely will be moving into different rooms after plebe summer, so the less to pack and move, the better.
