When will we be informed which company we are in? Thank you.

Probably I-Day, most classes have heard before but it doesn't look that way for us.

You should be informed about a week or so before I-Day so you can propagate your mailing address to friends and family. So, soon.

If you know someone who goes to the academy now, they can look you up online in MIDS to see what company you are before hand. Other than that, I'm pretty sure you'll just find out on I-Day.

Out of curiosity, is there something we can glean from knowing company assignments before IDay? Or does it even matter?

Nothing really, except once enough people begin to find out what company they're in you can meet your future company mates through social networking. Also I would want to know ahead of time if I was going to end up as a bearshark or not....:shake:

Seems like a good time to remind all the plebes-to-be that company personalities can and do change on a yearly basis, what with ~25% new people in them each year, and new leadership every year. Ergo, it makes close to ZERO difference what your company was like last year or the year before.

That said, 18th Co. is still the best.

Is there a current list of company nicknames somewhere?

This topic was covered about a year ago (no surprise):

Google search on "COMDTMIDNINST 6100.2A" to get the Brigade Intramural Sports Program Instruction update from 2 April 2014 (it's a PDF).

Page 13 of the PDF has the bracket with all of the (official?) company names.

There are definitely other informal/historical names, though (e.g., 21st is officially "Blackjacks," but they like to call themselves "Dog Pound").

Last year's thread also talked a bit about some of the Company traditions (e.g. 13th Company does the ball run for Army-Navy, 28th Company does the croquet game against St. John's)

It should be here:

though I know the company flavor can change with each new year, prior to I day my DS had heard about the reputation of his Company, and when he arrived it remained true to form. Now, In fact, according to my DS they are proud of their reputation and DS has verbalized that they plan on carrying on their traditions. So though there is a 25% turnover, don't forget that they are trained by last years class and them the class before (and so on)....

Is there any way a firstie that you know could get you into their company as a plebe? I thought I read somewhere on here that it's possible but I haven't been able to find that again.

I found out mine. They can also tell you your Alpha.

Ya there out. Current brigade member and look you up. My son has three of his friends from NAPS in his company

Daughter found out hers from another Mid yesterday.

(Are we not "allowed" to say which one?)

Although this happened last year and, by all reports, in many years prior, be aware that current MIDNs are NOT supposed to be giving out the information you are getting.

So, in communicating about any of this, please do NOT volunteer your source.

Its all under anonymity, Why would anyone say who it was. Especially on this forum.
