Hi everyone,

West Point has been my dream since I've been a little kid (cliché, sorry I know but that's the truth) and now that I'm a rising senior I've obviously been really pursuing my opportunity to apply to USMA. I apologize as this has been discussed here on SAF, but I was wondering regarding "Plan B" in the scenario I receive a TWE from West Point:

If I receive a 4-year ROTC scholarship but still want to apply to West Point in my first year of college, should I accept it or no? What about any other scholarships (specifically academic)?

Thanks!

Yes, if you do not receive an appointment the first go around, and you receive a 4 year AROTC Scholarship, you should accept the scholarship. During your first year at college and ROTC you can apply to WP again, if you receive an appointment then your scholarship will be terminated, you will not owe any money back, and you would begin fresh at WP. Should you not receive an appointment on your second try you would be able to simply continue on with ROTC with your scholarship intact.
