USMA has been struggling in Division I football for quite some time now. Do you think the Head Coach change will help?

No. It's difficult for any of the SAs to attract/recruit the quality of athletes necessary to compete successfully in Div 1 football. But IMHO that's OK....it's not the primary missions of the SAs anyway.

aglages does have a point. However, if you are a coach worth your weight. You can find a way to recruit an athlete. I have been around sports all my life. You as a coach have to find a way, not only to recruit an athlete, but one who has very good grades, too. I am not a Army fan, but if Coach Monken works really hard, you can instill a winning attitude. We must give him a while to build a program (Three years). Watch, Navy next year, once they enter conference play. It may be difficult for Navy fans to accept losing. Once your in a conference, it is different than independent, play. Yes, I am a huge Navy fan.

GO NAVY, BEAT ARMY

It might. It wasn't long ago that Navy was struggling.

According to Wiki, Navy had five different Football coaches between 1982-2001, with combined record of 72 - 148 - 1. Since 2002 with two coaches, 83 - 59.

I believe head coachs have impact on recruiting, not much on convincing someone that might go to Alabama to come to a SA, but whatever internal network/system/connection they have to bringing in right recruits.

LineInTheSand,

Good question. Some coaches sacrifice almost anything from A to Z. Family marriage to name two. Your thoughts would be intresting.

Crazy Game in New Haven

Gotta imagine that when they put this game on the schedule to celebrate the old Army-Yale rivalry of days of yore neither side imagined the result (49 - 43 Yale win in OT). Anybody see the game? Does Army have a lot of injuries? Maybe this will be the game the new coach looks back on when he's a legend to say "here's how far we came." But wow!

Ugh.... Don't remind me. I was there for the great Eliot Uzelak.

"Up the middle! Up the middle! Up the middle! PUNT!"

"Up the middle! Up the middle! Up the middle! PUNT!"

"Up the middle! Up the middle! Up the middle! PUNT!"

Imagine 4,500 frustrated Midshipmen chanting that over and over. Whenever we made a pass, we were more shocked than pleased.

There's a reason we called him "Eliot Useless".:unhappy:
