Hi All,

Any other parents with sons or daughters headed to NMMI this August?

I would love to get a group together to pool our information. I'm an obsessive planner/thinker and am already thinking about getting my son there and what to pack and what will we have to buy....will we ship it or buy it down there....

It's all so exciting!!

Congratulations! We know what an exciting time this is for you. Our DS is just completing his year at NMMI as a sponsored prep for KP. I confess to the same "OCD planning/thinker" syndrome, most of which turned out to be unwarranted ;0) I would be happy to share all that we learned about the process with you & I know DS would be happy to share his experience at NMMI with your DS. He has had an exceptional experience out there. I am new to the forum so I don't believe I can PM anyone yet. But feel free to send a note and I will get you my contact info.

NMMI Dad

Hello, my DS received a Navy Foundation Scholarship to NMMI. We will drive him out there the 1st week of August and are trying to plan what to take with us or buy once we get there.

Hi Momma120 - Did you ever get a group together to share info? There has been some really great advice from the past NMMI parents that could be really useful. Can we make a Facebook page? Or something to stay in touch with the mass? Report date is July 31 (per NMMI prep director) but we haven't gotten anything official as of yet.
 
We're new to all of this and will appreciate any information! Will be reading the other discussions too.

DS also going to NMMI this year

Hi All,

My son received his orders and travel itinerary this week. He is travelling on July 29th and arriving in Roswell at 4:50 pm? I have a million and a half questions. It is getting so real and so close!

We will find out Monday if my DSD will be accepted. We are on pins and needles waiting. She would be a senior in highschool and while she has always had very good grades she tends to gravitate toward not so great people, so we all (her father and I and herself) want her to be at NMMI for the high academic standards and the peers she will be with as well as the self discipline she needs to learn. She had some behavioral slip ups in her freshman year and I guess that's holding up the decision making process on whether she will be admitted or not.
 
Kathy (momma120), my son is also arriving there around 4:50pm on the 29th. Maybe they are in the same flight. My husband was sad that he is not going to go with him... but there is really no point, since once they get there they will be picked up by someone from the Institute and be "theirs". I think my husband was looking forward to having a tour of NMMI and the town with our son before he had to stay there.
 
My son will be attending NMMI as well as a Sponsored Prep for USMMA. Shipping out on July 30 from NY.
What a great Adventure for these young adults.
Just recieved the math work required for July 31. There is a lot of it.

Saying goodbye in the airport may be challenging, saying hello again during parents weekend will be so rewarding.
 
DS is heading to NMMI on a Falcon Scholarship from USAFA. It would be great to have a place to share and receive information with other parents.
 
Good morning NMMI Sponsored Prep Parents!

How about we get a FB groups started! I would be glad to get it going if we can get at least one parent from last years prep class to participate for guidance! Our cadets/ midshipmen will be together for the next 5 years, so we might as well get to know & support to each other! Our son will be arriving on July 30 at 10:00am. We are very excited for him! I will have my son post this FB page on the 2015 USMMA Prep Class page once we get the page up. Have your cadet keep an eye out!:thumb:

This would be great. We were asked to be a part of a FB page for the NMMI class of 2015 but haven't seen anything come through so far. I think we are still awaiting 'friend request' acceptance?

Anyhow, heading off from Illinois on a road trip to Roswell and shooting to explore along the way. Anyone making it to the parent brief Wednesday night at 7pm? Looking forward to this adventure with our son. Good luck and safe travels to all!

Sorry for the slow start-up. Please try again. We had to change the FB 'Page' to 'Group' for privacy for our cadets. Please request to be a member of '2015 Parent of USMMA Preps at NMMI' Group. To do this you can message me your email, or get on the FB 'Group' and request membership. This is not the same as the 'page' which you can only like. If there is any Prep Parent that would like to help manage this Group on FB, It would be much appreciated! As you can tell I'm not FB savoy, just saw a need and made a group! Haha!-Kwilley29

Momma120, my DS is also leaving tomorrow morning. I believe they are in the same flight from Dallas. Let's stay in touch!
