After going to AIM this summer, I know that the Academy is my number one choice. Since the Coast Guard doesn't have ROTC, are there any common backup plans that still allow you to become an officer? I'm considering NROTC but I'm not sure about the Navy and feel sort of like I'm lying to them by applying.

Kings Point would allow you to commission into the Coast Guard (or any branch) after graduation. Give it a look.

+1 for Merchant Marine Academy. My DS competed for and recieved a nomination for USMMA while his +1 choice was USCGA. He explained to the nomination board that if he had was selected for the USMMA he would attempt to get commissioned in the USCG after graduation. He subsequently was selected for the USCGA Class of 2015. I believe that the Coast Guard commissioned 12+ USMMA graduates as Ensigns in the USCG from the class of 2014.

So if you go there there's a pretty good chance you can get Coast Guard? I always thought it was a long shot and didn't want to take the chance of spending four years and not getting it...

It's not a long shot. But you'll have a hard time doing anything other than marine inspections as a KP'r, at least for your first billet.
