I have heard that there is a cross town agreement between Drexel and UPenn and that as a Penn student I would be able to do the Army ROTC at Drexel. Does anyone know how this process really works because I was wondering where Id take my classes and live and such..
Thank you

What did they tell you when you contacted the Drexel Army ROTC Battalion to ask this question? You will be enrolled at Penn and you will probably have to sign up for a class at Drexel. You may have to pay to take that class or you may not. You may have to travel to Drexel for class and lab and PT, and you may not. You would take all your other classes at Penn. This discussion board is really not the best place to get your question answered though. You should visit Penn, and when you visit see if you can set up a visit with the Drexel Army ROTC program at the same time.

The only true advice I could give you is you will be a UPenn student, thus you will live on UPenn campus and take your college degree classes there, thus it is really Important to be cognizant of scheduling classes when you do xtown, especially in a city environment. More so if you don't own a car.

Drexel and UP campuses are both in Philly, but not right next door to each other.

Actually the Penn/Drexel thing is perhaps the most convenient x-town thing going on. They are literally separated only by Market Street and share buses, etc.. It is an easy walk from one end of one campus to the far end of the other. Being urban campuses, they are very much vertical. Penn has Navy ROTC, Drexel has Army. My DD went to Drexel and actually lived at a Sorority on Penn and walked to all her classes at Drexel.

It has been 25 years since I went to school in Philly, and Drexel was closer to the Schuykill and UPenn was closer to the JFK Stadium...in between was South Street and Doc Joes.

That being said, it still also is easier to go to PT at 6 or 6:30 a.m. by just rolling out of your bed and walking 5 minutes, than getting up 30 mins. earlier so you can walk 5 minutes to the stop, waiting 5 minutes for the bus, 10 min bus ride and walking 5 mins to be there 5 mins early.

Than add the reverse route. The Host school cadet can run back to the dorm at 7:00/7:30 take a quick shower and make the 8 a.m. class. The xtown has to place that amount of time when selecting their classes.

If LLAB has to be placed into the equation than they are looking at more scheduling issues mid day.

Drexel and UPenn are literally across the street from one another. I talked with a NROTC student at Drexel who attends NROTC PT/classes at UPenn (just the opposite arrangment compared to AROTC) and he said it takes him no longer than 5 minutes to get to PT in the morning. These 2 universities are as close as it gets for cross town agreements. I think Pima must be thinking of a different university.

Uh No I am not. My two close friends went to both Drexel and UP. I went to a small private college in Philly. I would go to the frat parties on Friday night at Drexel and FB games on Sat.
~~~ It was probably the hangover that made me think it was longer.:eek::redface:
Now that is settled let's get back on topic.
I am not saying you should not do xtown, but I am saying you need to think about everything when choosing this option.
~ It also can become an issue from socialization. How many are at UPenn? Do they hang out at UPenn or is it more you will hang more with your academic peers?
What are you looking for?
I was a Drexel cadet, and about a half-dozen or so cadets were cross-towners from UPenn. It worked out tremendously well for both the Drexel part of the BN and the Penn cadets because we would PT at Franklin Field (UPenn's stadium) at least once a week and then the other day would be at Drexel.
You'd have to register for Lab and MSLC class at Drexel which (depending upon the year and MS class) can be held on the same day. The occasional issue that cross-towners had at Drexel in general (LaSalle/SJU/US, etc) was that Drexel is a quarter system. So while the cross-towner cadets had been going to class and doing PT, or at the very least doing PT, for the last 4-6 weeks, Drexel cadets were just starting.
