MY DS just missed getting in last year. Waited all the way up to May on the dreaded "Hold" status before finally getting rejection. He received a candidate letter for this year but has not reapplied. Do they keep his information on file from last year or does he have to go through whole applicaiton process again?

Yes, your DS will start with a fresh file. Hopefully he is taking some classes, like calculus and physics. Also he should take the SAT/ACT again and better his scores. I understand that some of it will be a hassle, but the essay will be different, the letters of recommendation will be different because he is not the same person he was last summer. So it is really to his benefit to start with a fresh file.:thumb:

reapplication

Great, thanks for the clarification. Yes, he is taking a full load at the local Community College and also working as a Vounteer Fireman in addition to retaking ACT.

I wish your DS the best of luck, I've always had a tremendous admiration and respect for those who reapply and continue to work towards the goal of admittance a second year, as I believe many do so as "2015" notes, the letters of recommendation that get presented to both the Academy and your nominating authority review boards are usually even that much more compelling and inspired.

Hang In there and any time this gets tiresome to yourselves or your DS don't hesitate to use the words of "Heave Ho" to fortify yourselves. It really is worth it.

I guess you could say I'm a reapplicant, I didn't complete my file last year because I didn't think it was likely to get a nomination. However, I realized my mistake, and am almost finished with the app (save my recommendation letters and my personal statement). From what I heard, there weren't even two qualified applicants from my state last year, so I'm assuming I have a decent chance. Good luck.

It was a third-times-a-charm for me to get in so it can be done. Community College and Firefighting training are two things that have excellent practical benefits at KP in addition to looking good on an application. If he can transfer any credits it can make the academic load tolerable and possibly even pleasent later on. My last two quarters of my senior year at KP I was only taking 12 credits ... Wow, so this is what normal college feels like?!?!?!

Yeah, that last half a year was like a vacation, no? Especially after license when free gangway kicked it. Well, that just meant I didn't have to cover my tracks. . . . .
