Does anyone know how strict USCGA Admissions are with the word limit on the personal statements? One of my 250 word statements is at about 270 and I am struggling to shorten it without taking out meaningful content. Thanks!

I'm not sure if it has changed from when I completed my application in 2008 :)eek:) but the online program would not allow for you to submit your essays if it exceeded the word limit. Shortening an essay is definitely the most difficult part of writing, you can always write more but most times it is hard to write less. I would suggest having someone else peer review your essay, a parent or teacher, and have them recommend cutting a certain section. What might seem absolutely critical to you may be seen as extraneous from a third party perspective.

Good luck on your application! :thumb:

We won't be counting words, but keeping it to one page (double spaced) is important...that's probably where the reviewer will stop reading.
