Is it better to take college credit earned in high school and go straight to being a sophomore in college or to start all over and start as a freshmen?

It depends where you are going to school. If you were to go to Princeton or West Point, for example, you would want the full experience of going to school there. If you are going to University of Florida, then it really doesn't matter if you skip freshman year.

Keep in mind that you will most probably attend for 4 years in order to fit in the ROTC courses and training. What you call yourself is moot. Certainly get all the credits going in that you can. You can use them to lighten your load each semester or to explore more courses than you otherwise might. Maybe you can fit in that Fine Arts Acting class you always wanted to do (or whatever it is for you).
