GPA problem

This summer I showed my guidance counselor the academic section of the AROTC scholarship. I told her the gpa I needed, and without me realizing, she put my weighted gpa (cc approved it). Now she is filling out the guidance counselor feedback form and she is uploading my unweighted GPA. Will this present a problem? What GPA will CC look at?
 
There are THOUSANDS of HS in the nation. ROTC has their own algorithm for the GPA...just like every college admissions committee.

The form is pretty straight forward...at least for AFROTC.

Scale..7 or 10 point?
~I.E. is an A a 93 or 90?

Weight for Honors/AP/IB....4.0, 4.5, 5.0, 6.0?

They than plug and chug, that is from at least, AFROTC's way your cgpa.

Many candidates will see their cgpa raise, fall or stay the same.

Our DS's jumped .25 because he was on a 7 point scale and honors carried the same weight as standard classes.

If you have your hard copy of your SAT, at the very bottom it shows a scale of the schools you electronically sent the scores. It will also show, or at least it use to, what college board has determined you cgpa. AFA and AFROTC matched that score identically.

I wouldn't sweat the load. Actually, GPA for the HS Army ROTC Scholarship has no overall weight in the whole person score if you have over a 3.0 GPA.

That really clears up a lot of issues and speculation in the past.

Every year when each board would release results there would be a thread where applicants would post their stats, at the top of the list was the GPA. When you compared the different applicants that received scholarships, the GPA would run from high to low. There was always the comment "Why did one person receive a scholarship with a 3.2 when another did not with a 3.8" Usually you could see a big difference in the rest of the applicants stats such as leadership and athletics, but the GPA was always a big question.

My own son was average in the GPA category, he was very strong in athletics and leadership, he received his scholarship on the first board and we always wondered why others with much higher GPA's were rolled over to the next boards.

This makes a lot more sense now hearing the the points awarded are the same for 3.0 and above. I would imagine that class rank still has some bearing since they still require it be listed, as well as test scores.
 
GPA

I speculate that part of the rationale is that it is difficult, if not impossible, to compare GPAs across the thousands of schools in the United States. You also have to include in the mix home schoolers, whose parents assign letter grades for their own children's work.

Thank you all for the clarification. I have another problem, I am bored ready and I have to do is complete my personal statement, however, my academic information section says "pending approval" and my guidance counselor feedback says "sent". Today my guidance counselor faxed the form she had to fill out and CC recived it and approved it, but it still says "sent" and my academic information section still says "pending approval". What do I do?

How are you "Board ready" if you still have to complete your personal statement?
 
I have no idea. My selection status says board ready and I received an email from a recruiter from a nearby university saying that I was board ready.
 
I would make sure you complete that personal statement soon and get it submitted, if it is not part of your packet that goes before the board they could just set it aside for the next board. Don't take any chances, get it done soon.
 
I am currently working on my closing paragraph! Should be done over the weekend, but I'm going to get my English teacher to proof read it when I get back to school so it should be upload by then. I am really worried about my academic info saying "pending approval" I don't know why it says that or how to fix it
 
My application did the same thing. All of my tabs didn't turn green/ completed until my guidance counselor submitted her feedback. After she submitted it, my academic information tab turned green soon after. I'm guessing that they take the guidance counselor's official rankings and GPA and check it with what's entered. If your guidance counselor hasn't recieved the email, check your academic information tab where you enter the guidance counselor information, and then email cadet command (that's what I had to do).

Do they also do this with the ACT/SAT scores? i.e. Would a 34 ACT be the same as a 30, for example, to get max scores? If so, what is the threshold for the max score?
 
first off...who faxes anything anymore? I can scan a document and email it with my phone.

You don't need to put in a personal statement and additional SAL attributes for your file to be board ready. It will go to the board without, but if you don't use that white space you should.

A good way to determine whether you are board ready is to contact a ROO and ask them if they can see you as board ready. In our system you pop up on our board ready list once you have submitted the required information. Some of us ROOs love to hear from our applicants when they need help. It also shows that the applicant is proactive and interested in our program.

Finally remember there are a small handful of people (5 or 6) processing scholarships at CC. From what I can see there are over 5500 applications in the system at this time. Don't panic if something still says "pending".
