LOAs?

I am aware LOAs are very hard to receive and not getting one is no reason to lose hope, but I have a couple questions regarding them. When does admissions usually send LOAs out? My admissions officer, who I've met with several times, told me at AIM that they may not use them this year; has anyone heard if they will be used? Lastly, I sent new SAT scores to USCGA in May of 2014 (2 months after I submitted my AIM application), and I am wondering if the new score, a 2210, will be considered over my old one, a 2080, if admissions looks at AIM attendees for LOAs...

Best regards,

Understand that things change year to year. Last year my son received one that was based on his performance at AIM and on the application that he had already submitted. The LOA came the first week of September and he was one of only four to receive one that early I believe. There are others that went out in the earlier fall for other reasons. (Recruited athletes, needed musicians, etc)

I will say that the likely purpose of the LOA sent to him was effective. Even after AIM he was leaning heavily towards USNA. The LOA began the process of serious consideration that eventually led to him accepting the USCGA appointment. This even after a LOA and eventual appointment came in from USNA.

He's finishing Swab Summer his week.

As far as your SAT score they will take your best score.

Go Bears!

DS just received an LOA for the class of 2019...dated Sep 19th. He was told at AIM that they may not even issue them this year, but evidently the practice continues.

Congratulations to your son! Just curious, had he sent in his application yet? I'm obviously not expecting an LOA or anything but I'm a little jealous right now! ;)

Yes, he completed his portion of the application within 2 or 3 days of it opening.

DD received her LOA today, also dated September 19th. CGA coach called her last week to tell her that that the LOA was on the way. DD is super excited!

I also received an LOA in the mail this afternoon! What an amazing feeling... Just the motivation I needed

Congratulations on you all receiving your LoAs. It may not seem so now but June will be here before you know it!!
