CFA Push Up Question

For those who remember, I posted my CFA scores a few weeks ago. Today, one of my friends (male) took the CFA and was concerned as to whether or not his 30 push ups was failing. Would anyone have an inkling of an answer or idea?

Don't know if it's failing; USNA (and his BGO) can tell him if he passed once the scores are posted. However, even if it's passing, for a male it's not a good score. The max is 75, so 30 is well below even 50% of max.

Luckily, push-ups are one of the easiest areas in which to improve - it's largely a matter of repetition. Suggest he practice and retake the CFA.

While the CFA consists of multiple events with only short rests in between...a reminder of the minimum PRT standards (all of these would get an individual a 60% on the USNA PRT):

Male:
Pushups: 45
Curl-ups: 65
1.5 mile run: 10:30

Female:
Pushups: 20
Curl-ups: 65
1.5 mile run: 12:40

Keep in mind "passing" the CFA doesn't mean you shouldn't do it again. When it comes down to it, if they see two otherwise equal applicants, one barely hit the minimum pushup score, and the other maxed it, you know who they will choose. I would recommend continuing to work out (following a PFA-geared workout would be helpful) and retaking it later on in the year. Good Luck!
