How many AROTC nursing scholarships were awarded last year?

I am curious if this info is available. DS is board-ready and accepted into first-choice university. I'm wondering how realistic an ROTC scholarship is. He qualifies for an automatic academic scholarship from the school. He is hoping to be a flight nurse for the Army. His first choice is a school we can afford without the scholarship and he intends to be a part of ROTC regardless. He wants to go active duty and serve.

First, make sure the Army ROTC program offers nurse scholarships.

You should also ask the program's ROO how many nurse applicants are going in front of the October board. If it a high number, the chances may be lower of being awarded a scholarship to that program because of supply/demand.

Good luck!

+1 to AROTCPMS - school choice may be more key than some think

Ginko - DD asked slight variant of that question to Brigade Nurse. What she/we were told this summer was the Mission for Nurses was cut from 250 graduated per year down to 150. That does NOT tell us precisely how many 4-year or 3-year AD scholarships are awarded because there is attrition from the sophomore year to upper division.

What I interpret it to mean is this will be a very tough year for Army Nurse Corps candidates given that 40% cutback.

Still … it beats the heck out of what Navy's Nurse Corps cutbacks look like as last year i believe they only awarded 16 total.

For any Nurse Corps Candidate it will pay to have Plan B, Plan C …

Good luck!

Thank you both for the reply. The school has a nurse mission so I assume this means they get scholarships for nursing. Yes, there is a plan B and C in place. The PMS encouraged him that he was a good candidate for their program. Time wil tell...
