Hello all who view this thread! Figured I'd start up a new thread for this years commissioning year group. My cadre informed me yesterday that we would find out the board results in 2 weeks. Has anyone heard anything different?

That is quite exciting. Mine left with ranger challenge today. She had said that they would find out on the 12th but earlier would be nice. She is a grader this year but was on the team last three.

Nice. Yes earlier would be nice. My hope is that CC doesn't postpone the results like last year.

Even hearing results on time would be nice. With the fiasco that was LDAC this year, it would not surprise me if they take longer then usual to sort out the OML. I have a feeling patience will be a virtue again this year.

Best of luck to all of you.

Excuse my ignorance...What do you mean by "Board Results"...Do you mean the OML, or the actual branch component? My DS was told he would know whether AD or Reserve component approximately Nov. 15...

Obviously, for cadets who are slotted Reserve/Guard involuntarily, the more time they have to utilize campus career services, the better...

Hopefully the cadets who are involuntarily placed in NG/AR will remain the same as last year, relatively small in number. At my sons school only one out of thirty five was forced into the NG/AR, low work rate and GPA were his down fall. I think this year’s vintage are spilt right down the middle for AD and NG/AR, DS being on AD side with luck.

They have been told Nov 12th for AD/AR decision and Feb 2015 for branch detail.

From what we were told the OML and branch components would be published in the next couple of weeks. I can see that schools are receiving different information. Guess it will be last year all over again.

Just to be clear, are you saying that your son's battalion has been told to expect 50% sent to Reserves, that would be a big jump from last year for the Battalion.

I wonder if they are doing things differently this year, I believe last year the results for AD/AR and Branch results came out the same time.

Any changes wouldn't surprise me these days.

This year’s crew is roughly the same as last, 50% wishing for AD while the remaining 50% NG/AR, only one from the 2014 batch being forced AR.

They have been told Nov 12th for AD/AR decision and Feb 2015 for branch detail, I will ask DS over the weekend if this is still the case.

Ok, that makes sense.

Funny how different battalions get different info, son says they were told they will hear both AD/AR and Branching sometime the end of Nov.

Someone at CC must have fun sending out emails.

Last year the AD/AR and branching info were out at the same time -around late November, which was a bit later than originally anticipated.

Specific post assignments and BOLC schedules came out four months or so later, as I recall.

DS was told on or about Nov 12th for AR/NG/AD, I believe also branch to be released. At least this year will not see a govn't shut down(no one could be stupid enough to pull that this year). The shut down was what derailed the timeline last year. CC will probably have some delay, but hopefully a few days/week - first of the year at the latest:rolleyes:

DS was also told that due to LDAC scoring changes the top score would not be 100 this year, but something like 93.

Who knows ... it will be what and when its supposed to be(oh, how I hate waiting:thumb:)

Spoke to my son over the weekend. On or around Nov 12th would seem to be the correct date for AD/ AR news release, so they have been told. The ROTC staff at my son’s school remain tight lipped on branch dates; they did indicate that it would be after the November AD/AR news.

Our Cadre just confirmed yesterday that results for Component/Branching would be out by the end of this month. Guess we will have to wait and see. Tons of floating information going out.

Started thinking about this whole branching process while finishing a second cup of coffee, dangerous I know.

When my first son went through this it was fairly simple, every cadet received an OMS score, they were placed on the National OML according to their score. The Army decided how many AD 2LTs they needed for that year and CC drew the cutoff line at the bottom number for AD. During the process they included those cadets from SMC's that went AD. That was it.

I imagine it's not that simple now considering the addition of the Special Branching Program. This is what got me thinking, again dangerous.

My thought is that CC will need to go through all the Special Branching requests first, assign the branches to the cadets that meet the requirements and are selected. All of these cadets will receive AD even if they would have fallen below the AD Cutoff. It seems logical that they would now have a total number for these cadets, they would then look at the number of AD slots approved by the Army, subtract the number of Special Branching cadets and SMC cadets from the AD allotment. They would then end up with the number of remaining slots that can be given to the rest of the cadets. Makes sense but I could be completely off base as well.

Going with the above process if they only release the AD/Reserve numbers first, then I would assume they already know the branches for those cadets in the Special Branching Program, they would then assign branches to the remaining cadets.

For cadets that are not in the Special Branching program it seems that the available AD slots are going to be fewer then in the past since many slots will already be taken before branching even begins. How much fewer will depend on how many cadets have used the Special Branching Program.

For last year and this year I imagine the numbers for Special Branching will be similar since these cadets were Juniors and Seniors when the program started and had already locked in their majors. I can see in the future this becoming a much larger factor in branching since many cadets will choose majors that will allow them to take advantage of the Special Branching Program. Unlike the other services the GPA and testing will not be as important for AROTC cadets in this program since the requirement is only a 2.75 GPA and an ADSO to get active duty if they have the right major. Granted most of the participating branches hold only 50% for this program, I think I read 70% for Engineer.

Well done with my coffee and thinking for the day, sorry for the ramble.

Which branches are considered Special Branches? I don't have a clue. I would suspect STEM majors, nursing majors?? Which others?

I know I saw it someplace but what degrees lead to those special branching.

What degree is for transportation or ordnance.

I'm thinking if you took your ordnance homework back to your dorm you might get kicked out of school.

OK, I looked it up and here are the branches that are included in the Special Branching Program.

Sorry for the misinformation in my previous post.

There are too many majors to list, here is a link that includes the branches and the majors that are required.
